What is Almonds?
The almond tree is native to Iran and neighbouring countries, but it is widely planted elsewhere. The tasty and widely cultivated seed of this tree is also known as the almond. It is classified with the peach in the subgenus Amygdalus of the genus prunus, with corrugations on the shell around the seed distinguishing it from the opposite subgenera.
The almond's fruit is a drupe, which has an outer hull and a tough shell around the seed, which is not a real nut. The term "shelling almonds" refers to the process of removing the shell to reveal the seed. Almonds can be purchased either shelled or unshelled. Blanched almonds are shelled almonds that have had the seed coat melted away with heated water and then removed to reveal the white embryo.
Benefits of Almonds :
● Almonds Deliver a Massive Amount of Nutrients
Almonds are the edible seeds of the prunus Dulcis tree, which is more often known as the almond tree. They are native to the Middle East, but the United States is currently the world's largest producer. The shell is routinely removed from store-bought almonds, revealing the edible nut within. They're available raw or roasted. They are also used to produce almond milk, oil, butter, flour or paste — also referred to as marzipan.
● Almonds Are Loaded With Antioxidants
Almonds are a powerhouse of antioxidants. Antioxidants help to protect your cells from oxidative stress, which can damage molecules in your cells and contribute to infection, ageing, and diseases like cancer. Almonds are high in antioxidants, which are mostly concentrated in the brown layer of the skin.
● Almonds Are High in Vitamin E
Vitamin E belongs to a family of fat-soluble antioxidants. These antioxidants tend to build up in your body's cellular membranes, protecting your cells from oxidative damage. Almonds are one of the world's best sources of vitamin E, with just one ounce providing 37 per cent of the recommended daily intake. Several studies have connected greater nutrition e consumption with a lower risk of heart disease, with the majority of cancers and Alzheimer's ailment.
