Cinnamon bark

What is Cinnamon bark ?

Cinnamon bark is obtained from a variety of evergreen trees found in Sri Lanka and India. The tree has thick, reddish brown bark, little yellow flowers, and spicy-smelling leathery leaves. It reaches a maximum height of 20-60 toes and is mostly found in tropical woodlands. The Lauraceae family includes cinnamon bark. Cinnamomum cassia and Cinnamomum saigonicum are two related species. It is grown in tropical climates such as the Philippines and the West Indies. It is not grown in the United States. The trees are pruned to just above ground level every two years. The bark is picked and cured from brand young shoots. The outer bark is removed, leaving the inside bark, which is the herb's main therapeutic component. Cinnamon's use extends back thousands of years, to at least 2700 B.C., when it was described in Chinese herbals as a remedy for fever, diarrhoea, and menstruation problems. It was employed in a similar way by Indian Ayurvedic physicians.

Benefits of Cinnamon bark :

●  It Can Improve Sensitivity to the Hormone Insulin

Insulin is a hormone that regulates metabolism and expenditure of energy. It's also necessary for blood sugar to get from the bloodstream to the cells. The problem is that many people are resistant to the effects of insulin. Insulin resistance can be a sign of serious disorders including metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes.

●  It May Have Beneficial Effects on Neurodegenerative Diseases

Neurodegenerative diseases are characterized by the progressive loss of brain cell structure and function. Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease are two of the most common types. Cinnamon includes two compounds that appear to reduce the accumulation of tau, a protein that is one of Alzheimer's disease's hallmarks, in the brain.

●  It May Protect Against Cancer

Uncontrolled cell growth is a hallmark of cancer, a life-threatening disease. Cinnamon's ability to prevent and treat cancer has been extensively studied. Overall, test-tube and animal research are the only sources of evidence for cinnamon extracts preventing cancer.
